1. 3. Durgiana Temple: A beautiful and serene place, the Durgiana temple is dedicated to goddess Durga and was built by Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor in 1921. It features carved silver plated doors and exquisite architecture while surrounded by a lake. It is visited by many people of all faiths for its peaceful vibes and because it a symbol of unity and diversity in Punjab.

4. Jallianwala Bagh: Perhaps one of the most important historical sites related to India’s colonial past, the Jallianwala Bagh is a living monument to the bravery and tenacity of our freedom fighters who perished here in 1919 during one of the worst massacres in India’s modern history. The incident that occurred here was instrumental in powering the Indian Independence Movement that ultimately led to India gaining its freedom in 1947.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum: This is an interesting and important museum to visit, especially if you want to know more about one of the greatest leaders of Punjab and one of the most revered warriors in the world. The museum is made inside a summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and stores many important and authentic artifacts that tell a fascinating story.

6. Jama Masjid Khairuddin: Built by Mohd. Khairuddin in 1876, this iconic mosque is an integral part of Amritsar’s landscape. It is a famous structure that played a big part in India’s independence movement and is visited by thousands of worshippers everyday.

7. Fort Gobindgarh: Perhaps the best and most interesting historical monument in Amritsar, you can spend the whole day at the fort and still not see all that it has to offer.
